Course description

This entry-level program provides practical, hands-on exposure to software development, API integration, and network programmability within the framework of the Cisco Networking Academy curriculum.

Recommended for

The target group for this training is primarily individuals with basic IT skills who are looking for a career-oriented introduction to network automation and application development.

  • Software Development and Design: Focuses on programming fundamentals (typically with Python), comparing data formats like XML, JSON, and YAML, test-driven development, code organization (methods, classes, and modules), and version control using Git.
  • Understanding and Using APIs: Covers the creation and troubleshooting of REST API requests, interpretation of HTTP responses, API authentication methods (basic, token, etc.), and best practices for consuming API documentation.
  • Cisco Platforms and Development: Explores developing applications for Cisco-specific platforms such as Meraki, Cisco DNA Center, ACI, SD-WAN, and more. It also emphasizes using Cisco SDKs and understanding model-driven programmability principles.
