What is adult education?<\/span><\/h3>\n

In a broader sense, adult education includes individuals participating in public education institutions (adult education*) or higher education after the compulsory school age. However, according to the definition in Act LXXVII of 2013 (Adult Education Act), adult education encompasses any organized, purposeful activity aimed at developing or enhancing competencies, conducted in a structured way through teaching, training, or other adult education services, where participants do not have a student status with the educational institution.<\/p>\n

*Adult education refers to formal school-based education where the participant holds student status. In contrast, adult training (feln\u0151ttk\u00e9pz\u00e9s) takes place outside the formal school system and involves a different legal status.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n \n

Who can participate in adult education?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Anyone who has completed their compulsory schooling can participate. However, individuals still within the age of compulsory education may also take part in adult training while fulfilling their school obligations.<\/p>\n

The University of Pannonia offers adult training courses for both internal and external staff, its own students, students of other higher education institutions, companies, and individuals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n \n

Who\/ what kind of organization can provide adult education?<\/span><\/h3>\n

In addition to traditional market providers (adult training centers), vocational training institutions, public education institutions, and higher education institutions are also eligible to provide adult education.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n \n

What counts as adult education and what does not?<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Adult Education Act applies to organized, purposeful education or training aimed at developing competencies. Thus, all traditional professional training, language courses, other training (e.g., business, communication), retraining or upskilling programs, and corporate training fall under adult education. However, conferences, workshops, coaching, consulting, clubs, and on-the-job training do not count as adult education. Fire and occupational safety training is also no longer covered by the Act.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n \n

How can adult education activities be conducted?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Adult education can be carried out either through notification or by obtaining a permit. Both processes can be initiated with the Adult Education Administrative Body through the Adult Education Data Service System (FAR), which then provides a registration number\u2014either “notification-based” or “licensed (permit-based).”<\/p>\n
